LU District Line: Edgware Road to Putney Bridge - BVE2 & BVE4

This is an authentic BVE route written by Paul Jobber & smooth curves and points coded by Stephen Cross, updated February 2005 by Steve Green for BVE4.x

Route Overview

This is the portion of the District Line route from Edgware Road to Putney Bridge, a regular weekday turn-back point. You will take a C stock train from Edgware Road station to Putney Bridge on a Southbound service.

The route almost entirely consists of brand new, bespoke freeobjects. If any route authors wish to use them for routes, please contact Paul by the e-mail link at the bottom of this page.

We start at Edgware Road served by District, Circle and Hammersmith and City Line trains. The H&C Line leaves immediately at Praed Street Junction. We then share tracks with the Circle Line until High Street Kensington. We then switch to District Line only tracks on a double track chord, making up part of Triangle Junction. We pass Triangle Sidings and dive beneath the main District Line. We then take the Wimbledon branch. You will also see D stock trains on the main District Service to Tower Hill. You will also see a Kensington Olympia to High Street Kensington shuttle train, made up of D stock.

The train of C stock was built in two batches in 1969 and 1977. The design of cab is very similar to the deep level 1972 MkII tube stock used on the Bakerloo Line. This stock was refurbished in the early 1990s.

All gradients, distances, positions of curves, pointwork, stations and signalling is modelled accurately. Signalling is, however very slightly simplified slightly owing to limitations of BVE.

Signalling

Please see the >LU Signalling< page for details on how the underground signals work.

Important notes on running and installing : Please read this carefully, I shall say this only once!

The route features realistic London Underground Ltd signalling. To make the signalling work, you need some special LU signals :-

BVE 2.6.x :

After installation, go your main BVE folder, you'll see a subfolder called "LU_Northern_Signals"
Run the signal install batch file
contained within before running the routes.
The other batch file in the folder will revert the signal types back to your existing ones when you are finished.

BVE 4.x :

LU signal installation is automatic. You need to do nothing.
